Our statement of faithNotre confession de foi
What we believeCe que nous croyons
Notre confession de foi est pour l’instant disponible uniquement en anglais.
As a Bible-believing, independent Baptist church, we desire to stand firmly upon the Word of God and faithfully follow the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our faith is not based upon tradition, personality, denomination, or human philosophy. Our final authority is the Word of God. We believe the Bible, practice its teachings, and desire to live our lives according to its truth.
We believe that the following truths are the foundation of our faith and ministry.
1
We Believe in the Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, preserved, infallible, and inerrant Word of God. It is God’s revelation to mankind and our final authority for what we believe and how we live.
We believe God’s Word is sufficient to guide us in our salvation, Christian life, family, church, and ministry.
We use the King James Version (KJV) in our English preaching and teaching because we believe in the importance of preserving and faithfully proclaiming God’s Word.
2 Timothy 3:16–17; Psalm 12:6–7; 2 Peter 1:20–21
2
We Believe in One True God
We believe there is one true and living God, eternally existing in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe each Person of the Godhead is fully God and worthy of our worship, love, obedience, and service.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14
3
We Believe in Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, God manifest in the flesh.
We believe He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, willingly died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose bodily from the grave on the third day.
We believe Jesus Christ is the only Saviour, the only Mediator between God and man, and the only way to the Father.
We believe He ascended into Heaven and that He will personally, visibly, and bodily return again.
John 1:1, 14; Matthew 1:23; John 14:6; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Acts 1:9–11
4
We Believe in the Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is God and the third Person of the Trinity.
We believe that when a person trusts Christ as Saviour, the Holy Spirit indwells, seals, and begins His work in that believer’s life.
We desire to be filled and controlled by the Holy Spirit so that our lives will bring glory to Christ and bear fruit for God.
John 14:16–17; Ephesians 1:13–14; Ephesians 5:18; Galatians 5:22–23
5
We Believe Man Is a Sinner
We believe that mankind was created in the image of God but fell into sin through Adam’s disobedience.
Because of sin, every person is born separated from God and cannot save himself through good works, religion, morality, baptism, or human effort.
We believe that every person needs to recognize his sinful condition and turn to Jesus Christ for salvation.
Romans 3:10, 23; Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1–3
6
We Believe Salvation Is by Grace Through Faith
We believe salvation is God’s gift of grace.
A person is saved by placing his faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work on Calvary.
We believe that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again, and that everyone who personally trusts Him as Saviour receives forgiveness, eternal life, and a new birth.
John 3:3; John 3:16; Acts 20:21; Romans 10:9–13; Ephesians 2:8–9
We believe salvation is by grace through faith, not by works.
7
We Believe in Eternal Security
We believe that when a person is genuinely born again, he becomes a child of God and is eternally secure in Christ.
Our salvation does not depend upon our ability to keep ourselves saved, but upon the finished work of Christ and the power of God.
Although a believer can fall into sin and experience God’s chastening, we believe that genuine salvation is eternal.
John 10:27–30; Romans 8:38–39; Philippians 1:6; 1 Peter 1:3–5
8
We Believe in the Local Church
We believe the church is a local assembly of born-again, baptized believers who have voluntarily joined together to worship God, preach the Gospel, observe the ordinances, disciple believers, and serve Christ.
We believe Jesus Christ is the Head of the church.
We believe the local church is autonomous and should govern itself according to the Word of God without outside ecclesiastical control.
Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 2:41–47; Ephesians 1:22–23; Colossians 1:18
9
We Believe in Believer’s Baptism
We believe baptism is an act of obedience to Christ and follows salvation.
We believe biblical baptism is by immersion and pictures the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
We do not believe baptism saves a person. We baptize because we have already trusted Christ as Saviour.
Matthew 28:19–20; Acts 8:36–39; Romans 6:3–5
10
We Believe in the Lord’s Supper
We believe the Lord’s Supper is a memorial of the death of Jesus Christ.
As believers partake of the bread and cup, we remember His body that was broken for us and His blood that was shed for our sins.
We believe the Lord’s Supper does not save us or remove sin, but is an opportunity for believers to remember Christ, examine themselves, and proclaim His death until He comes.
1 Corinthians 11:23–29
11
We Believe in Personal Evangelism and Missions
We believe every Christian has been given the responsibility to share the Gospel.
We believe the Great Commission is not merely a command for pastors or missionaries but for every believer and every local church.
Our desire is to reach people with the Gospel, establish Bible-believing churches, disciple new believers, and send the Gospel to the uttermost parts of the earth.
Matthew 28:18–20; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:13–15
We believe that Paris, France, and the whole world need the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
12
We Believe in Holy Christian Living
We believe salvation changes a person’s life.
We do not believe that Christians should live like the world. We desire to live holy, separated, humble, honest, and Christ-honoring lives.
We believe Christian liberty should never become an excuse for sin or become a stumbling block to another believer.
Romans 12:1–2; 2 Corinthians 6:14–18; Ephesians 5:11; 1 Peter 1:15–16
Our desire is not simply to call ourselves Christians, but to live as Christians.
13
We Believe in the Family
We believe that marriage was established by God and is between one man and one woman.
We believe husbands and wives should love one another according to God’s Word, and parents have the responsibility to teach their children the Bible, pray with them, and raise them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Genesis 2:18–24; Matthew 19:4–6; Ephesians 5:21–33; Ephesians 6:1–4
14
We Believe in the Return of Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is coming again.
We believe in the pre-tribulation Rapture of the church, when Christ will come in the air to receive His church.
We believe in the literal Tribulation, the visible return of Christ to earth, and the literal millennial reign of Jesus Christ.
Our hope is not in this present world. Our hope is in the coming King, Jesus Christ.
We believe Heaven is a real place prepared for those who belong to Christ.
We also believe Hell is a real place of eternal punishment for those who reject God’s salvation.
Because we believe eternity is real, we have a burden to reach people with the Gospel while there is still opportunity.
John 14:1–3; Luke 16:19–31; Revelation 20:11–15; Revelation 21:1–4
Our personal commitmentNotre engagement
What we desire to beCe que nous désirons être
We do not claim to be a perfect church, nor do we claim to have perfect people.
But we desire to be a Bible-believing, Christ-exalting, soul-winning, missions-minded, separated, praying, and serving church.
We desire to remain faithful to the old paths of Scripture while reaching people in the generation and culture in which God has placed us.
Our desire is to preach the Gospel clearly, teach the Bible faithfully, love people sincerely, disciple believers faithfully, and exalt Jesus Christ in everything we do.
We believe that:
The Bible is our authority.
Christ is our Saviour.
The Gospel is our message.
The church is our ministry.
Souls are our burden.
Missions are our responsibility.
Holiness is our calling.
Heaven is our home.
And Jesus Christ is coming again.
“For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.”
— 2 Corinthians 4:5 (KJV)
Our desire is simple: to be faithful to God, faithful to His Word, faithful to His church, and faithful to the Gospel until Jesus comes.
